RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP returns to Motorland Aragón for the third Grand Prix of 2024 on Spanish soil

This weekend, the twelfth Grand Prix of 2024 will be held at Motorland Aragón in Spain. The circuit is back on the calendar for the first time since 2022 and with hard braking points, slow and fast corners and two straights, it offers quite a challenge for rider and machine.

After not hosting a Grand Prix in 2023, Motorland Aragón is back on the MotoGP calendar this year. The 5.08-kilometre circuit, located in north-east Spain, has ten left turns and seven right turns. The circuit also has quite a lot of elevation change and the longest straight is almost a kilometre long. Prior to this Grand Prix, the circuit was completely resurfaced.

After a disappointing race at the Red Bull Ring, RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP stayed in Austria to take part in the official test on Monday. During this day, positive findings were made with Zonta van den Goorbergh finishing fourth and Barry Baltus ending the day in sixth. The aim is to continue that form this weekend at Motorland Aragón where, with temperatures above 30°C, it promises to be hot and challenging.

Barry Baltus: “After one year of not riding there we return to Motorland Aragón this weekend, a track that I like quite a lot. We didn’t test there two weeks ago like some other teams did but we stayed in Austria on Monday to test there. That went well so I cannot wait to get back on the bike again on Friday. I will be pushing hard for a good result and I hope to get back in the position where I need to be.”

Zonta van den Goorbergh: “I have very good memories of Motorland Aragón. With the Moto2 machine I have only ridden there once but in the past I won there in the European Talent Cup. It is a circuit I like to ride at and therefore I am definitely looking forward to it. After this we go straight on to Misano so it will be important to find a good rhythm here and keep it.”

Jarno Janssen – RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP team manager: “After a very productive test on Monday at the Red Bull Ring for both riders, we go to Aragon with a good feeling. Zonta in particular has good memories there but it is also a good circuit for Barry. The weather conditions will be stable but also very hot so that’s going to be tough for both the riders and the team. Let’s hope for a good start to the weekend so we can build on that on Saturday and Sunday.”

The race weekend at Motorland Aragón starts with free practice on Friday morning, followed by the first official practice session in the afternoon. Then on Saturday morning the second official practice takes place after which it is clear which riders will have to take part in Q1 or Q2. Qualifying starts at 13:45 on Saturday afternoon, with the 23-lap race starting at 12:15 on Sunday afternoon.
