Official Moto2 | Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto
Zonta van den Goorbergh – P9:
“After a good winter, in which I worked hard and trained a lot, we left for Portimão to do the first kilometres of 2024 on the Moto2 machine. Unfortunately we weren’t able to ride that much there because of the weather conditions, in the laps I did manage to ride there, the feeling wasn’t so good yet. Then we went to Jerez and there we managed to turn that around. We were able to do a lot of riding for three days thanks to the good weather conditions, which also allowed us to do a lot of testing. With the new Pirelli tyres, it’s obviously important to know what works and what doesn’t. We have had three productive days and we were particularly strong on used tyres. Also with a new tyre we were fast and are therefore in a good position. As a result, we can definitely be satisfied with how this test went and it’s only a few more days before we go to Qatar. Then it really comes down to it again and we will have to step up another gear.”
Barry Baltus – P17:
“The final day of this 3-day test wasn’t exactly our best day but in general we have had a good test. We have tried many things and in the end we found quite a good setup, we can be happy with that. Everyone is so close together on the timesheet but I feel confident. At the moment we are 17th on combined times but with a few tenths’ improvement we are there. We didn’t really focus on the time attack but on race pace we are strong. Next week will be another story and we will see what we can do in Qatar. We need to believe in ourselves and then we’ll find out what is possible.”
Jarno Jansen – RW Racing GP team manager:
“Our first and immediately our last test is finished and to be honest we don’t have much to complain about. We had very good weather conditions in Jerez unlike Portimão. Both riders were very fast and comfortable with their machines. Their race pace was good and that gives a lot of confidence for Qatar. We are on the eve of a new season and I feel we are in good shape.”
