NTS RW Racing GP duo takes big steps on second day
Bo Bendsneyder and Steven Odendaal made a step forward on the second day of the IRTA test in Jerez. This resulted in the Dutchman finishing the final session in tenth. His 1.41.958 was good for fifteenth overall. His South African team-mate ended in seventeenth with 1.42.475, and nineteenth overall.
Only a few riders did not improve their time in the third and final session of the day. Among them Alex Marquez, who set the fastest time of the day in the first session for the Moto2 class. Bo Bendsneyder was just 0.750 away from Marquez’s 1.41.208 and only half a second from the top 3.
“The conditions in the last hour were certainly not better than in the first two sessions”, said RW Racing GP team manager Jarno Janssen. “So it is good to see that both our riders have managed to improve their times. We are still looking for the right settings, but we are getting closer and closer to the top. It all looks very well.”
Bo Bendsneyder: “It was a good day. We have been able to try a lot, also in terms of tires. We have been able to complete the entire program that we had planned for today. In all three sessions I was constantly in the top 12, which was the goal. In the last run I have been able to improve my lap time with the soft tire.”
Steven Odendaal: “We have found a number of interesting points with which we could improve considerably today, but with which we can also make significant progress tomorrow. I think we can get a lot closer tomorrow, which would be great. In the end I had a small crash, so I could not further improve my time, but it looks good.”
