No Q2 for Bendsneyder and Corsi
The lap times of Bo Bendsneyder and Simone Corsi were a lot faster than on the first day at Motorland Aragon, but not fast enough to reach Q2. The result is that Bendsneyder starts the Moto2 race from 21st and Corsi from 26th. The Moto2 runs at 14.30 CET tomorrow, after the MotoGP which starts at 13.00.
Steps were made on both sides of the NTS RW Racing GP garage on the unexpectedly dry and warm Saturday of the Aragon Grand Prix. The expected rain fell early in the morning and the Moto2 had its third free practice on a dry track. However, the grip was different than on Friday due to the rain.
In FP3, both NTS RW Racing GP riders were already faster than on Friday, and Bendsneyder in particular had very promising times. He only just missed placement for the second qualifying round.
During Q1 in the afternoon the temperature had risen sharply to 27 degrees Celsius, so the circumstances were different again. Bendsneyder was initially on track for a place in the first four, but the Dutchman was unable to further improve in the final phase of the qualifying quarter. With 1.53.346, he finished in seventh place. Corsi also rode his fastest time of 1.53.782 early in Q1, the Italian finishing 12th.
Bo Bendsneyder: “Unfortunately we were unable to find the setup to get rid of the vibrations. It was a good lap, but not good enough for Q2. I am disappointed, but tomorrow we will try to make another step in the warmup.”
Simone Corsi: “It was a difficult qualification and I did not do well. I couldn’t build a good feeling with the bike. A good start and catching up with as many riders as possible in the first lap will be crucial.”
